Josh and Derek at Full Circle Fitness Coaching are great trainers. I have been training with Josh for a few months now and I feel great. He has helped me with my posture, diet, and fitness routine. Both Josh and Derek have studied extensively; they understand kinesiology and work well with all body types. I would highly recommend either of them as a trainer. They are both very nice too, which makes going in fun and enjoyable!

As a professional golfer and an active adult I needed training that would challenge me in many areas. I needed golf specific exercises emphasizing core strength, flexibility, rotation, however as a well-rounded athlete I did not want to limit my training to golf specific exercises. However, finding a trainer aware of the body so comprehensively that they were able to train me in such a well rounded way was difficult. After meeting Derek Motsinger about a year ago, I immediately realized he understood the body so well and was easily able to train me from every angle. He has been able to train me and work on several aspects of my fitness from a golf perspective. He pushes me beyond what I thought was even capable. I have surpassed my plateau and am reaching new levels with my body. I find that downfall of most trainers is that they have one perspective on training and they train you that way and eventually your body will plateau, what makes Derek is unique is his extensive knowledge of the body and his ability to take your personal goals and fitness types and create a regiment that will never be dull, repetitive, and will allow you to reach your goals. Derek is an incredible motivator and source of inspiration, his training expands focuses on the physical and mental aspects of our body and such comprehensive training is hard to find and really give you great overall results.

Following my cardio bypass surgery I began a rehabilitation exercise program prescribed by my doctor. I soon found that proper exercise made me feel better. After I completed the program at the hospital I met Josh Maness. I told him of my cardiac surgery as well as the degenerative muscle disease I have, Inclusion Body Myositis. Although there is no known treatment for IBM researchers have observed that proper strength training may slow the degenerative process. We discussed the areas of weakness in my body and Josh agreed to work with me. I was impressed when, before our first meeting, I learned he had taken the time to research the limited information regarding Inclusion Body Myositis. I have been working with Josh for 3 years now. Although I still have muscle degeneration I am physically able to do things now that I had been unable to do before. My goal is to maintain my strength as long as possible. Derek became my coach at Full Circle Fitness on the recommendation of a friend. I had been working on and off with various trainers over the years, but was not really reaching the level of fitness I wanted. I also needed to lose weight; at thirty-three I was over 200 pounds! One of the first things Derek did was to help me identify I was a protein type and we changed my diet. Next, he organized my workout routines around the primal exercises to restore my posture and muscle balance. Four months later, I visited my doctor for my annual physical; I had lost over 25 pounds and my doctor said " congratulations on changing your health"! Working with Josh is less about ìworking outî and more about creating a healthy and holistic approach to living. I came to Josh tired, anxious, sluggish, and stressed. My job is stressful and I work with challenging people on a daily basis. I thought getting back in shape would fix the issues I was experiencing. In the long run Josh helped me physically get back in shape, but we also looked at food and how it affected my mood as well as stress and my choices in dealing with stressors. I have been training with Derek for several years and have benefited greatly from his education, encouragement and support. Growing up I was the skinny kid who never felt comfortable in gym class. Even though I have always been active playing tennis and running, my strength and fitness was not at a level that I wanted. Six weeks after surgery to put a pin in my broken right tibia, I came to Full Circle Fitness to find ways to exercise the rest of my body while I was in therapy for my leg. Derek developed a unique program for my situation and coordinated his training with my therapist. When therapy stopped, Derek continued the healing with new exercises to strengthen my calf at each step of my progress. I was pretty happy when I was hiked up Cowles Mountain, with Derek setting a blistering pace and encouraging me on! Even though the custom routines and instant feedback about my exercise techniques have improved my workouts 100%, I think the other changes I’ve made under Derek’s guidance have been even more profound. I’ve reduced my anger and stress, changed my mistaken concepts about diet (losing a dozen pounds in the process), and am learning to channel my energy more effectively during my workouts. I know that sounds like overstatement, but I’ve been able to change decades-old negative patterns with Derek’s help. I first met Derek when he was training at a local chain gym. What set Derek apart from other trainers was his training style. His focus is on overall fitness. Most trainers focus on body building piling as much weight on you as you will stand. Form is not emphasized only the amount you can lift. Derek tailors your program to your goals and abilities. He carefully guides you through each exercise ensuring you not only do the exercise properly but also that the exercise will do you the most benefit. The greatest reasons against hiring personal trainers for me were how aloof most of them appeared or that they were generationally gapped. Time and again in the past, I have had trainers with biceps bulging and quads the size of car tires; you’re intimidated by their mere presence or you never seem to be on the same page with them - even though they give an occasional smile. With Derek my experience has been quite peculiar with awesome difference from what I have been used to; Derek is understanding and teaches how to achieve and maintain not just a written set of goals but the whole body.
